Shmi Skywalker

Given that it was Shmi Skywalker who spawned the entire Star Wars story, her character is grossly underrated. His lightsaber fight with Yoda, barely a quarter of his size, made for a gripping yet comic sequence. He was a skilled fighter and leader brought to a stop by Anakin Skywalker, who later joined the dark side himself.

Biggs Darklighter

Close friend of Luke Skywalker, Biggs appears briefly at the end of A New Hope. He is the inspiration for Luke’s wanting to get away from Tatooine and join the Imperial Academy. Darklighter’s death comes at the hands of Darth Vader as he serves as a human shield for Luke during the trench run.
